A NIGHT IN MONACO……

A couple years ago, my husband and I went to Europe after the continent was open to tourists after the COVID-19 pandemic. One of the stops on our journey was Cannes in the South of France. I had never been to the French Riviera and this seemed to be as good of a time as any. The highlight of our time there was a night trip to Monaco!
We found a company who picked us up at our hotel in Cannes and took us to Monaco for the night and returned us. The drive was about an hour long but absolutely breath taking! Once we got into Monaco, we went to the old town and royal palace. The historic town was adorable, but not really what you think about when you picture Monaco.

The next part of our tour was probably the best and the most unexpected part. We went to Monaco in early May which was right before the biggest event – the Grand Prix! There a few other races that happen before the F1 Grand Prix so the track is “set up” almost a month ahead of the actual race. I say “set up” as the track is just the Monaco streets, but the advertisements, barriers, and stands are set up. So we got to drive the track (granted it was in a minivan but still). It was a great experience, especially since both of us have gotten into F1 racing from the Netflix show Drive to Survive. It was truly an experience we will never forget – my husband even recorded the whole thing.

After our lap around the track – the tour guide dropped us off and we explored Monaco on our own for a bit! We went to the famous Monte Carlo Casino. The Casino is a gorgeous building with limited gambling opportunities especially compared to the Vegas casinos. However we still gambled – I ended up winning 200 Euros. Which ended up paying for our dinner in one of the casino’s restaurants.
All in all we loved Monaco and are excited to return soon and hopefully have a longer stay! Until then we enjoy watching the Grand Prix every year!
